Architectural Style: A Mixture of Styles and Materials
Materials Used: It was crucial for this project that materials varied throughout the neighborhood creation. Rather than developing a cookie-cutter layout, the emphasis was on providing each owner with a sense of ownership and individuality, defining distinct areas within the development itself.
Design Concept: The Whangarei Suburban Neighbourhood Creation is conceived as a unique blend of architectural styles and materials, creating a diverse and dynamic community. The incorporation of various scales and sizes of housing, along with different materials, introduces a varied rhythm to the development. Open porches facing the street encourage interaction among neighbors, fostering a sense of community.

Indoor-Outdoor Flow: Balancing private indoor spaces with extensive outdoor areas to encourage social interaction and outdoor use.
Flexibility in Spaces: Most houses are designed with three bedrooms and a flexible space that can serve as a home office or a playroom.
Elevated Bedrooms for View and Light: Bedrooms are strategically elevated to capture views to the East, while living spaces are often on the ground floor for a natural indoor-outdoor flow.
Diverse Completion Dates: Reflecting the varied nature of the development, completion dates will differ to accommodate the unique features of each residence.
Client's Preferences: The design is influenced by the vision of creating a suburban community that embodies the essence of living. The preference for a mixture of styles and dark, robust aesthetics aligns with the desire to create a unique and visually appealing neighborhood. The emphasis on sustainability and self-sufficiency reflects the client's commitment to creating a community that respects the environment.
Collaborations: Collaborating with E1 Engineers for engineering ensures the integration of innovative structural elements throughout the suburban development. DHS Construction has been selected as the builder for the houses, ensuring quality craftsmanship.
